The GNCHR is the independent advisory body to the State specialised in human rights issues.

It has been established and is functioning in accordance with the UN Paris Principles.


The GNCHR employs four Legal/Research Officers:

Anna Irene Baka, PhD in Public International Law and Legal Philosophy (The University of Hong Kong), LLM in International, Comparative and EU Law (Institute for European Studies, Free University of Brussels), MA in Public Law and European Integration (Panteion University of Athens), LLB (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Lawyer 

Roxani Fragou, Postdoctoral Fellowship in Human Rights (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), PhD in Public Law (Université de Strasbourg), DEA en Droit public (Université Robert Schuman-Strasbourg III), LLB (Democritus University of Thrace)

Eva Tzavala, PhD Candidate, Law Faculty, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (researcher AthensPIL), specialized in public international law and human rights (Master II Recherche Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne)

and from 16.1.2019:

Katerina Charokopou, PhD in Public International Law (Faculty of Law, University of Vienna), LLB (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens)

The GNCHR Secretariat is headed by Katerina PantouMA in Contemporary European Studies (Bath University, UK), Degree in Political Science and Public Administration (University of Athens) 

From 16.1.2019 the GNCHR Secreteriat employs one Administration/Communications Officer:

Dionysis Giakoumelos, MA in European Studies (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium), Graduate of the Greek National School of Public Administration, Degree in Communication and Mass Media (Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens).

In 2003 the GNCHR acquired its own premises in Athens (Neofytou Vamva, 6, 10674 Athens); it also maintains its own website (www.nchr.gr).
